How to get Started

10 tips for taking the first steps to financial freedom!

1. Sign up for the Free 101 Day e-programme - it changed my life! Add your Email address top right...

2. Take your wealth profile test. I took the Roger Hamilton Wealth Dynamics test. It is fascinating, and well worth the investment - I know I am a Mechanic/ Lord/ Creator. One of the greatiest effects this knowledge has given me is that I know now that I work differently to the "Stars" of this world. Many of the people who are the icons for their businesses are Stars (such as Nicola Cairncross & Claire Westwood). The way for me to work in my flow, however, is to work with systems to optimise my businesses.

An alternative wealth profile is the Kolbe test. Robert Kiyosaki goes into this process in great detail in his book Rich Kid Smart Kid, which is actually about optimising your chidren's financial education. It is another really good profile method & I will do that too some time.

3. Get a coach. Having someone to whom you are accountable is an amazing catalyst for change. It is so easy to procrastinate for ever before taking that one big step forwards....

4. Read Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki.  This is an amazing, yet easy to read book that can help you to change your attitude to money and wealth - for ever!

5. Eliminate Bad Debts. Rich Dad Poor Dad helps you to understand the difference between good debt (which is making money for you or being paid for by somebody else - for example a mortgage on a buy to let property - ) and bad debt (debt taken out for depreciating liabilities such as cars).

6. Subscribe to Martin's Moneytips. This weekly Email will tell you what is new in the moneysaving game, including best savings accounts, best 0% credit card offers, cheap plane flights, cheap days out at the theatre - the list is endless. The Emails are free and the website extremely helpful. He also has a useful E-book to help your kids learn how to deal with credit cards and debt.

7. Read the One Minute Millionaire. Another pivotal book, I love the way it is written in two halves. Read the right side pages if you feel like a story, if your right hemisphere is dominant, if you are a creative type. Read the left side pages if you are a logical thinker. I read both, right (great bed time stories) then left to clarify questions that I had.  hmm - about time I re-read this book I think!

8. Pay yourself first. Instead of saying "I'll save when I have some spare cash", plan to put a portion of your income into an account set aside for later investment. Then pay your tax, expenses, and tithing. In this way you will see your savings gradually grow - adn once you have investments in place they will grow more quickly, thanks to compounding!

9. Tithing - this is optional, but one of my main motivators to become wealthy is to be able to give more to charity. Many of us believe that the law of attraction is a reality (watch "The Secret"). This means that the more (wealth, happiness or whatever) that we give out, the more we will get back - a sort of "karma" approach if you like! I aim to give 10% of my pre-tax income to charities and non-governmental organisations, and likewise 10% of the proceeds from this website will be tithed.

10. Decide which lane(s) or the wealth highway you are interested in and - just take one small step in that direction!

Good luck!
