Hi there,
I have just returned from the school Christmas Fair at St Bede's Prep School in Eastbourne - great chance to chat to other parents about how they, too, can work towards improving their kids' health and futures. It is amazing how many people are concerned about their kids' food intake.
As with adults, the most important things are:
1. Make sure they drink enough water - yes, water, not flavoured fizzy drinks full of additives. Our bodies are made to take in water, and this should be the majority of our fluid intake.
2. Ensure that they have a good diet, full of natural antioxidants - fresh foods, with at least 5 (and better still, 7) portions of fruit and vegetables per day.
3. Regular exercise is essential; increase it if your child is overweight (hmm- you cna lead a horse to water, but ...)
4. Nutritional Supplements - it has been shown that even the healthiest Western diets are now lacking in nutrients, especially when you use levels needed to prevent those chronic diseases of our future, rather than the recommended daily allowance set in the rationing times of the second world war.
5. Plenty of rest and relaxation (I hear my son and husband mumbling in the background about pots calling kettles black here, but I honestly do ENJOY networking on the computer! It is just that there aren't enough hours in the day!)
For the BEST nutritional supplements for your child ensure that they have high doses of a good balance of vitamins and minerals in an easily absorbable form.

I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don't know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.
